Even the boldest optimists in the Tyrolean Paznaun had not reckoned with such a good winter and such a positive balance: from November to the end of April, a total of 2.2 million overnight stays were recorded in the Paznaun villages.
“That is an increase in overnight stays of around 28.8 percent compared to the previous 2021/22 season and compared to the pre-crisis level in the 2018/19 season, the difference is currently only around 4.7 percent,” says Alexander von der Thannen, chairman of the tourism association Paznaun-Ischgl, very pleased. Managing Director Thomas Köhle also emphasizes: “We didn’t expect such a great overall result given the starting conditions in November. Our expectations were exceeded.” By starting conditions, he means the massive inflation and the energy crisis. Now full concentration on the summer season The balance sheet of the Silvrettaseilbahn AG was no less gratifying. “Right from the start we were able to record extremely strong skiing days with more than 20,000 winter sports enthusiasts in the Silvretta Arena this year. In addition, with more than 500,000 ski passes sold, we have come close to the pre-crisis level,” sum up the two board members Günther Zangerl and Markus Walser. Preparations are already underway for the summer, in which Paznaun also wants to score points. The planned highlights include the Culinary Way of St. James, the Ischgl Ironbike, the E-Bike World Championships for everyone and the Silvrettarun 3000.
