Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin spoke on state TV on Sunday about his view of the war, and he also acknowledged – at least indirectly – problems: “In fact, we have a lot to do – for example for the development of the ground troops,” said he in the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin.”, reported by the Russian newspaper “TASS”.
In the interview, Putin also claimed again that he “wanted to resolve the conflict peacefully” over Ukraine. However, both Kiev and the West “worked on Ukraine’s rearmament in Donbass after the annexation of Crimea nine years ago,” added the Kremlin chief. And stressed: The Western partners “simply pumped Ukraine full of weapons and prepared it for combat operations. We’ve been fooled.”
At the time of the annexation in 2014, Russia was not yet prepared for the Ukraine war, the Kremlin chief explained. And continued: “We didn’t have hypersonic weapons then, but now we do”. He probably hinted at a threat: “We don’t use them in practice, but we have them. Do you understand?”
