Madness: In Berlin, an alliance of climate sect supporters and lobbyists wants to use a referendum to ensure that the city becomes “climate neutral” in 2030 and not in 2045, as previously planned. Voting is already on March 26th. This referendum could have serious consequences, because if there is enough support for the utopian demand, the decision will become binding law. Do the Berliners vote for the total eco-dictatorship and thus their own downfall?
How is the capital supposed to become “climate neutral” within just 7 years? Not even the initiators, the “Bündnis Klimaneustart Berlin”, which consists of radical activists, can answer this question. The campaign is funded by donations, with the largest donor being the US-based Eutopia Foundation. But lobbyists are also among the donors. A total of 1.2 million euros in donations were collected.
Posters can be seen all over Berlin promising “cheap, independent, climate-neutral” for the referendum. This suggests to people that if they agree, they will ensure that they end their dependency on importing expensive oil and gas – switching to renewable energies would be cheaper and CO2 would no longer be produced from fossil fuels. But these are just empty promises, because the electricity demand cannot be covered within just under seven years by wind and sun alone, making it impossible for Berlin to become climate-neutral by 2030.
A good 2.4 million Berliners can vote on March 26th. A quarter of those eligible to vote – almost 613,000 – must vote yes for a corresponding change in the Berlin Climate Protection and Energy Transition Act. The proposal would then become a binding law that everyone can invoke and complain that the Senate must do everything to make Berlin climate-neutral by 2030. This could then result in the mindless imposition of radical measures such as driving bans on combustion engines. If the Senate does not react accordingly, this would certainly immediately call controversial associations such as the “Deutsche Umwelthilfe”, which specialize in such lawsuits, onto the scene.
Since the goal cannot be reached, the referendum is rejected by all parties. The Association of Business Associations Berlin-Brandenburg (UVB) criticized the project: “It is dishonest to fool Berliners into believing that the capital could become climate-neutral by 2030. The goal is simply unattainable. Anyone who stirs up different expectations among voters with a referendum risks a further loss of confidence in our democratic system,” said Managing Director Christian Amsinck.
It is to be hoped that Berliners will obtain as much information as possible and think about the devastating consequences of this referendum should it be implemented. The goals of the climate lunatics are becoming increasingly radical and mean increasing costs and restrictions for ordinary people.
