They painted their bodies black, wore short, brown trousers, chained themselves together and paraded through the streets at the Thaur carnival parade around an artificial camel and drumming men. Too much for anti-racist observers. Someone recorded the procession from “Unsinnigen Thursday” and sent the video to the registration office for anti-racism work in Tyrol (ARA).
There they were shocked and explained that it had nothing to do with carnival. Rather, it is a “degrading and condescending attitude of the costumed towards people who are perceived differently.”
