The incident becomes another lesson in media conformity and media manipulation. Although the rampage took place yesterday, March 13, 2023, there is only one identical text worldwide, which seems to come from the Reuters news agency. Unusual for the English-speaking world, large media have not yet shown the name and picture of the perpetrator. Islamist terror is currently not to be expected. The great interest of politicians speaks against this.
Amqui is a small town with almost 6,200 inhabitants in the Canadian province of Quebec. There, on Monday afternoon, a pickup truck crashed into a group of people and subsequently rammed several pedestrians on the sidewalk over a distance of 900 meters. Two people died on the spot, and many others were seriously injured and taken to nearby hospitals. There are said to be nine injured, including two children – although the witness statements differ here.
Almost all international media as well as regional media houses report word for word a text from the Reuters news agency: Two dead, nine injured after being struck by van in Canada’s Quebec. This is probably correct in terms of content, but the procedure shows how news travels around the world today. Untested and only from a single source. Important questions remain unanswered at Reuters: What is the name of the perpetrator and what is his background – a question that has usually always been clarified in English-speaking countries, but has become increasingly obscure in recent years, especially in nations such as Canada associated with the World Economic Forum.
We were able to research local French-language media that the suspect is a 38-year-old man named Steeve Gagnon from Saint-Léon-le-Grand. According to eyewitnesses, he intentionally steered his car into the group of people. After the deed was done, he fled, but later voluntarily turned himself in to the police and was arrested.
Instead of correct reporting, the usual dance that is usually associated with Islamist terror was performed first. At first it was claimed that it was an accident but certainly not an act of terrorism. Then it was announced that it was a loner and there would be no danger to the public. As is so often the case, the truth will only be revealed – if at all – in court. According to the journaldemontreal, the man was widely known to have mental health problems and at the time of his arrest he was showing acute signs of a mental disorder. It is assumed that the act was committed intentionally, whether the perpetrator is accountable and thus culpable appears unclear. Charges of first degree murder and hit-and-run are being prepared.
Local and national politicians, including Prime Minister Trudeau, have been shaking hands since the horrific act in the small town and are appalled. It can therefore be assumed that a “right-wing” act will be constructed – even without any evidence. The framing in the system media also suggests this:
Left-Facing Framing
The following paragraphs are not to be found in the first report by Reuters mentioned, but are used by many media with the same wording as the original report. So everywhere we don’t learn anything about the current perpetrator, but we are bombarded with examples of “right-wing terror” to teach the population who the good guys and the bad guys are in this world. The numerous examples of terror emanating from extremist Mohammedans or left-wing extremists are not mentioned.
In 2021, a man used a van to kill four members of an immigrant family in London, Ontario in what Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau described as a hate crime against Muslims.
In 2018, a man in a van in Toronto crashed into pedestrians, killing ten people. Alek Minassian was found guilty of 10 counts of first-degree murder and 16 counts of attempted murder. Minassian, 28, told police he belongs to an online community of sexually frustrated men, some of whom have plotted attacks on people having sex.
