Annalena Baerbock (Greens) announced at the beginning of last year that, as Foreign Minister, she wanted to keep CO2 emissions as low as possible when traveling abroad. That is why she will start her business trips on a scheduled flight if this is possible.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has now announced that Baerbock has made a total of 69 business trips by plane since she took office on December 8, 2021. On only two of them did it keep its promise – on the other 67 flights it used the aircraft of the German Armed Forces.
“The honorable announcement by Foreign Minister Baerbock to use more scheduled flights has turned out to be a cheap PR campaign,” criticized Left MP Victor Perli in the “Berliner Zeitung”. And added: “That’s a ridiculous rate. Credibility is different. The minister should apologize to voters for the broken promise.”
