After the 2-0 win against Paris and the associated promotion to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, the home game against FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga was scheduled for Bayern Munich on Saturday. The German record champions celebrated a 5:3 home win. However, the game began with a shock for Munich. Former Salzburg player Mergim Berisha gave Augsburg the lead in the third minute. But Bayern’s response was not long in coming. Cancelo equalized in the 15th minute. Four minutes later, Benjamin Pavard turned the game around for the hosts.
After 35 minutes, the Frenchman pulled off a brace and extended the home side’s lead even further. Leroy Sane made it 4-1 before the break whistle. After the break, Berisha reduced the deficit to 2:4 with his second goal (60th). But Davies was there in the 74th minute and was responsible for the 5:2. Cardona corrected Augsburg’s result in added time. But even his goal could not prevent the defeat of the guests. Julian Baumgartlinger played through at Augsburg.
For a long time everything pointed to a victory for Eintracht Frankfurt against VfB Stuttgart. After there were no goals in the first half, Rode put Oliver Glasner’s team in the lead. But Eintracht couldn’t follow suit and so Silas equalized in the 75th minute for the Swabians, who thus scored an important point in the fight against relegation.
Hertha BSC and FSV Mainz 05 also drew 1-1. Ngankam converted a penalty in the 18th minute to give the capital club the lead. The response of the guests followed in the second half. Ajorque made it 1-1 in the 57th minute. At Mainz, Karim Onisiwo came on in the 58th minute after a three-week injury break. RB Leipzig celebrated a convincing 3-0 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Leipzig were lucky that Alassane Plea failed in the 53rd minute when the score was 0-0 with a penalty kick to RB goalie Janis Blaswich. Werner (57′), Forsberg (71′, penalty) and Gvardiol were responsible for the goals.
Konrad Laimer played until the 87th minute for the Red Bulls. Xaver Schlager was out due to injury. On the other side, Hannes Wolf came on in the 72nd minute, Stefan Lainer was on the bench.
