For the children, the unspeakable and unnecessary lockdowns were not only torture, but also obviously harmful in terms of mental development. This is shown by a new German study. Learning problems are also identified in the United States.
As should be common knowledge by now, overall the Covid lockdowns have done more harm than good. A new German study now shows that the mental development of the children suffered as a result. Because the average intelligence quotient (IQ) of the youngest is well below the pre-“pandemic” times. Stress, anxiety, social isolation and the school closures have obviously had devastating consequences.
Every few years, the University of Trier surveys the IQs of students aged 13 to 15 in Germany. After 2002 and 2012 also in 2020. While this was still 112 21 years ago, it dropped to 105 points in autumn 2020. According to “FAZ”, there are also some limitations in the study, since around half of the children attend gifted classes, which could lead to distortions. Other factors would also make a direct comparison difficult. A new test with some of the students in spring 2021 showed a slight improvement compared to the previous year, but the values from 2012 were not caught up.
Data from the United States also show such developments. The pupils are clearly lagging behind the expectations for their school level, which hits children from poorer classes in particular. The lockdowns and school closures have caused enormous problems that could not be easily solved. These development and education deficits will cause lasting problems.
