A supporter of the climate sect revealed in a documentary in front of the camera that one had to risk people dying as a result of blockades and other crimes: the transformation of society was more important. Meanwhile, public broadcasters are announcing the results of a study by the Berlin Social Science Center: In Germany, there is no longer a “radicalization trend,” they say. Because radicals are obviously only critics of the Corona measures and those who are suffering from the energy crisis.

A 41-year-old unemployed “full-time glue” from Dresden stated in front of the camera in the documentary “Last Generation – A Year with a Radical Climate Glue” that he was well aware that people were killed by blockades and other crimes by the climate sect can come: that someone dies, he is “mentally prepared at least in the back of his mind”. That would be hard to bear, “but it’s something that we have to risk a bit”. Because: “The question is: Which is better? Not to protest and accept that we are going to fossilize or try something that could transform society, that could make us stop the climate catastrophe.”
Thus the choice of the word “climate terrorists” to the “nonsense” of the year 2022 was finally reduced to absurdity. An attempt by the “last generation” to dissociate themselves from these statements failed, because claims that a rescue lane was defined for every blockade collide with reality. Otherwise, for example, the special vehicle of the fire brigade could have passed the blockade after the accident of a cyclist in Berlin and possibly saved the woman. The obstruction of ambulances has long been a tradition in the climate sect – which confirms the statements of the 41-year-old member. What will end up in the headlines in 2023 was already foreseeable in 2022.
Hooray: No radicalization in Germany in 2022
The WZB protest monitoring 2022 meanwhile gives the all-clear: The “radicalization trend of the Corona years” has been stopped, it says. So all in butter in the best Germany ever!
War in Ukraine, rising energy prices, climate change and the consequences of the pandemic – despite overlapping crises, 2022 was not a year of confrontational protests. On the contrary: The radicalization trend of the past two Corona years did not continue in 2022. Although parts of the climate movement, above all “The Last Generation”, often resorted to forms of protest such as road blockades and airport occupations, the level of confrontational and violent protests was significantly below that of the previous pandemic years. Rising energy and living costs also mobilized less than expected in 2022. WZB researchers at the Center for Civil Society Research came to these conclusions in their protest monitoring for the past year.

At the time, the police approach was “confrontational”, but not the protesters – it was not for nothing that the massive police violence at these demos called the then UN Special Rapporteur on torture into action, who attested Germany’s system failure in his analysis.
The public broadcasters are meanwhile ecstatic: The fact that the generally comfortable and capable of suffering German citizens did not demonstrate to the extent expected against the energy crisis caused by the energy transition and sanctions was attributed, among other things, to the federal government’s very helpful “relief packages”. In fact, the measures taken by the federal government are about as effective as the Covid vaccine: The Berliner Zeitung recently reported savings of no less than one euro thanks to the electricity price brake. It is hardly to be expected that the openly displayed extremism of the climate apocalypticists will be the subject of compulsorily financed propaganda stations. In the face of numerous threatened crimes – including sabotage of gas power plants and pipelines – apologies were given last year: So-called experts described the increasing radicalization of the climate sect as a “sign of the worsening of the climate crisis” – and thus agreed with them to a certain extent.
