The Gigafactory in Berlin should be the beginning of a new chapter in Musk’s empire. By the end of the year, Tesla wanted to fill 12,000 jobs at its only European factory. In addition, 5000 vehicles should be produced per week. As of today, however, things look a little different: Only 7,000 people are employed. This understaffing also affects productivity: 2000 Tesla – and thus not even half of the planned amount – are produced per week.
But that’s not all: numerous employees are said to be leaving the company in droves due to the poor working conditions. According to reports from several employees, this is due to poor management and unfair pay. In addition, employees are said to have been divided into weekend shifts and 3-shift systems contrary to their employment contracts. It is “total chaos”.
The Tesla factory in Germany also has to contend with tough competition, according to the report. The production facilities of other German car manufacturers would offer much better working conditions and therefore also attract frustrated Tesla employees.
