The Mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) supported party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner in the SPÖ internal debate. With regard to the controversial survey that sees the Burgenland governor Hans Peter Doskozil as the more popular SPÖ candidate, Ludwig took the same line as Rendi-Wagner: The church must be left in the village. He pointed out that the SPÖ was the only party in Austria to have a jointly agreed program on the asylum issue. It is a good thing that there are “substantive discussions” within the SPÖ. In view of the great “challenge” of immigration these days, “different approaches” are completely normal.
