Police officers from the Floridsdorf city police command were alerted because a supermarket detective had stopped two suspected shoplifters in the act. The two Polish nationals, aged 34 and 54, are said to have tried to steal hard alcoholic beverages. They also wanted to swipe a children’s toy construction kit and a trolley with a total value of 500 euros.
However, the shop detective was already watching the two suspects and stopped them after they passed the checkout area. During the search, officers were also able to secure a pair of pliers, which are believed to have been used to open the anti-theft devices on the liquor bottles. The two suspects were released after interrogation.
