All five Austrians qualified for the women’s World Cup start in Wisla on Friday. The Salzburg World Cup title defender Sara Marita Kramer was fourth with 121.5 m, Eva Pinkelnig from Vorarlberg seventh (123.0). Chiara Kreuzer (16th), Hannah Wiegele (20th) and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (23rd) also advanced. Best was the Slovenian Ema Klinec (128.5). Norway’s Olympic champion Maren Lundby finished 14th in the comeback.
Among the men, Michael Hayböck was the best ÖSV athlete in fifth place with 128 meters. The Upper Austrian landed directly in front of his teammates Daniel Tschofenig and Manuel Fettner. Philipp Aschenwald was tenth, Daniel Huber just ahead of Stefan Kraft 20th. Jan Hörl, one of the Austrians, missed the cut for the competition on Saturday (4 p.m. / live ORF 1) as 55th. The qualifying win went to local hero Dawid Kubacki (133 m), just ahead of Halvor Egner Granerud (NOR).
Two competitions each for women and men will take place in Wisla on Saturday and Sunday. It is jumped on an ice track and landed on mats.
