As the eXXpress reported yesterday, the German federal government is helping entrepreneurs and their employees with an inflation premium. In plain language: 3000 tax savings and more salary – on a voluntary basis. Bertelsmann is now making use of this. The business of the media giant ranges from books and magazines to radio and TV. The RTL Group, for example, also belongs to Bertelsmann. The Gütersloh-based media group is the first to accept the German government’s offer and pay out the inflation premium.
3000 euros, free of taxes and social security contributions, as relief for the employees. In the case of Bertelsmann, this will be a “high double-digit million amount”, as Meedia reports, referring to group information. Overall, Bertelsmann has over 145,000 employees who generate sales of around 19 billion euros. The inflation bonus of 3,000 euros goes to all German employees. They will get 1,500 euros in December, and there will be another 1,500 euros in March 2023, up to a gross fixed salary of 75,000 euros. CEO Thomas Rabe said: “Tax and social security-free one-off payments are a very efficient way of supporting employees. Inflation and, above all, rising energy costs are not only having an impact on our business, but on everyone.”
