The 500-euro climate bonus has already caused a lot of criticism from the FPÖ. Above all, whoever does not get it causes a stir. “A 17-year-old apprentice gets 250 euros, while an 18-year-old migrant gets 500 euros,” said Markus Abwerzger, among others, in an eXXpress interview. While our babies get nothing, murderers, rapists and drug dealers in prison also get a grant. Now the Gewessler regulation is also causing criticism in the ÖVP.
Interior Minister Karner said on Tuesday that one had to check whether the “accuracy” was given. However, he assumes “that this will happen in the responsible department of Climate Minister Leonore Gewessler”. There are “clear legal requirements” for how long someone has to be in the country to receive the bonus, Karner concluded.
There is also sharp criticism from the Tyrolean ÖVP. Before the state elections on September 25, the candidate Astrid Mair found clear words in this regard. The fact that the climate bonus is paid out to asylum seekers who have done nothing for Austria is “unacceptable and a fatal signal”.
