The English Premier League club Newcastle United have signed the Swedish national soccer player Alexander Isak for a reported 70 million euros from Real Sociedad. As the “Magpies” announced on Friday, the 22-year-old striker signed a long-term contract. In addition, the Spaniards are said to have secured a resale participation. It’s a record-breaking move for Newcastle, who have recently received financial backing from Saudi Arabia.
“It’s a great, historic club that anyone would love to play for,” Isak said. Isak has scored nine times in 37 games for Sweden and 44 times in 132 appearances for Real Sociedad. After three games this season, the team coached by Eddie Howe is currently sixth in the table. Isak moved to Spain from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, but he only scored six goals in 32 league games last season.
