The excessive violence documented on video on one of the most prominent streets in Europe, directly in front of the elegant Hotel Bristol on Vienna’s Ringstrasse, shook thousands of social media users and eXXpress readers: four Ukrainians – we reported – fell over two taxi drivers (48, 47 ) and beat their victims down. The reason for this escalation of violence: the taxi drivers had made the Ukrainians aware that they were not allowed to park their cars in the taxi lane.
After 93 days (!), the Vienna police are still unable to provide any new information about the crime. The eXXpress asked several times whether there was already new information on the search and whether there was a search at all.
The police only said on Thursday: “There is currently no new relevant information for the public.”
Many are now asking themselves: How can there have been no new information on the violent crime for three months despite witness reports and clearly visible Ukrainian car license plates? Should the case disappear from media attention so as not to cast a bad image on Ukrainian guests in Austria?
Or did a Ukrainian oligarch use his connections? After all, the suspects in their shorts may not have dined or lived in the Bristol themselves – they look more like bodyguards who are supposed to protect a wealthy Ukrainian discreetly.
