The police did not provide any information about the nationality of the two victims (17, 18) in their release. The two suspects are a Syrian (24) and an Iraqi (33).
The victims stated that several people had attacked them completely out of the blue. Both were threatened with a jackknife and thrown at them with a glass bottle and stones. Furthermore, one of the suspects is said to have fired several shots in the air with a pistol. The older of the two is said to have been beaten with a belt and kicked. Then everyone involved fled. One victim was injured in the incident and taken to a hospital by a Viennese ambulance service.
A pistol was found on the suspect and seized. This is said to belong to the Syrian, and a temporary weapon ban has been imposed on him. Several cartridge cases from a blank pistol were found and seized in the Wiedner Belt area. A search for the other suspects was unsuccessful. The two alleged perpetrators did not confess to the allegations. By order of the public prosecutor’s office in Vienna, the two are taken to a prison.
