With a nice smile, people recently posed “climate-friendly” on the Railjet to Graz: Green Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen took Climate and Energy Minister Leonore Gewessler with him on his tour of Austria with the Dutch royal couple.
Now the minister, who was criticized for her somewhat low level of activity in the fight against Austria’s energy crisis, was not quite as “climate-friendly” on the road, oe24 has now revealed: the ex-Global2000 manager took the train to the EU Council of Ministers in Luxembourg, for the return journey she boarded the jet after all. Curious: This summit was specifically about achieving ambitious climate goals…
In the minister’s office, the green politician’s renewed flight is defended: “The minister prefers a climate-friendly arrival and departure. Due to the density of appointments on the following day, the return journey was made by plane.”
The climate minister has already had to take strong criticism twice because of an obviously practiced Phariseeism: Leonore Gewessler flew from talks in Qatar back to Vienna-Schwechat with the chartered private jet of the Federal Government. And the Greens also came under massive pressure when it was revealed that they had a new 143,000-euro climate filing system installed in their offices in the Ministry of Climate.
