“The shameless cashing-in from SPÖ Mayor Ludwig is driving more and more Viennese into poverty. The mayor is personally responsible when more and more people can no longer afford food and can no longer afford heating in winter. It is frightening what social coldness prevails in Vienna, which was ruled by the SPÖ,” said the Viennese FPÖ boss, City Councilor Dominik Nepp, on the final announcement that the prices of Vienna’s district heating will be increased by 92 percent and that further fee increases are imminent next week.
With the current price gouging in Vienna, the constant demand by SPÖ federal leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner for price and fee caps has finally become implausible. “In Vienna, the red companies Wien Energie and Wiener Stadtwerke made a profit of 1.2 billion last year. Instead of returning this billion-dollar profit to the Viennese, the SPÖ continues to turn the price screw with Mayor Ludwig. Where the Reds rule, they get paid,” criticizes the Viennese FPÖ chairman, who has announced numerous FPÖ initiatives for price and fee reductions.
