In the Federal Republic of Germany, people keep saying that German money is there for everyone, just not for the people in Germany itself. The same can probably be said about natural gas. Not only Poland can fill the gas storage tanks, Morocco can also be happy.
As recently as July, Report24 reported on how Poland was diligently filling up the gas storage tanks via pipelines from Germany, while in the Federal Republic itself the storage tanks were not even remotely sufficiently full. A small courtesy to Warsaw, which never tires of making new, historically justified demands for billions in payments to Berlin. But people are also happy about natural gas intended for Germany elsewhere, namely in Morocco.
Like the Spanish newspaper”Diary 16” reported, liquefied natural gas from the United States, which was supposed to find its way to Germany, flows south in Spain – to the autocratic kingdom of Morocco. This is because it has no liquefaction plants. Therefore, the Maghreb-Europe pipeline, which otherwise actually delivered Algerian gas to Spain, was converted into the Europe-Maghreb pipeline. The (expensive US) natural gas is now flowing in the opposite direction.
“German power company RWE has bailed out the Moroccan government by guaranteeing gas supplies for both industry and households, at a time when both German citizens and the rest of Europe are grappling with uncertainty about what will be delivered by the the mandatory cuts announced by the European Commission,” the Spanish newspaper said.
Algeria, which is at odds with neighboring Morocco over Western Sahara, is not happy about it. The result: As with Nord Stream 1, “technical problems” are now being asserted with the Medgaz pipeline in order to suspend the flow of gas across the Mediterranean (You can read more about the background to this conflict in our report here). And Algeria has every reason to be indignant about the illegal behavior of the “western values” in the form of the Brussels Eurocrats and the Spanish Social Democrats, especially since they are supporting the UN’s demanded Western Sahara independence referendum sabotage. So much for the “rules-based international order” that this “west of values” likes to carry as a banner.
With its irresponsible policy, the traffic light coalition in Berlin is not only sabotaging the European security architecture, which must rely on a relaxed Moscow policy, but also the complete energy security of Germany and Europe. Although the gas supply is not even remotely secured for the coming months, Germany is not only filling up the Polish gas storage facilities, but also those in Morocco. A polemicist would now ask who else would like to have German gas, especially since there are still supplies in the German gas storage facilities…
