According to a report by the Daily Mail, the British holiday hotspot Marbella is teeming with organized criminal gangs from all over Europe who use torture and violence to defend their shares in the profitable drug trade.
According to the Spanish Intelligence Center for Counter-Terrorism, 113 gangs from 59 different countries are currently operating in the province of Malaga, where Marbella is located. According to the media report, it is “multinational” groups that are causing fear and terror in the beautiful holiday home. There is said to be particularly tough competition in the region for the distribution of the lucrative drug business.
Speaking to El País, a Spanish police investigator called Marbella the “United Nations” of organized crime – because gangs from so many countries operate in the region.
A body was found in the quiet mountain village of Villanueva del Trabuco in April. The victim was particularly brutal: the head, hands and genitals were chopped off! The body was so horribly battered that it could not be identified.
Last month, a torture chamber was discovered in the Golden Beach apartment complex, where special police forces broke into and found a body wrapped in cling film with brutal injuries. Tourists got caught in a shooting at the Opium Beach Club on Monday last week.
Three innocent revelers were hit in the hail of bullets – two of them died. A 26-year-old Moroccan woman remains in “serious” condition. A fourth person – a 32-year-old Irishman – was also taken to intensive care but has now been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the shooting.
While the police speak of “Dutch and Belgians”, it is clear that these are migrant gangs. A 40-year-old Dutchman of North African descent was filmed pulling a gun out of his pants and could face murder charges along with another man he was with in the club shooting.
