The previous Infection Protection Act (IfSG) expires on September 23. The government is now working on a new edition for the autumn – so a package of measures is being worked on eagerly. It has not yet been announced in detail which restrictions citizens can look forward to, but masks are compulsory indoors already announced. In case of doubt, the flu can be used as a reason.
Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP) is currently negotiating with Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) about future corona measures, which should in principle be possible after the legal basis for the restricted basic measures has expired.
According to Buschmann, a “form of compulsory masking indoors” will “certainly play a role” in the concept for the Corona autumn. “The effectiveness of masks for individuals indoors is indisputable. That is why some form of wearing masks indoors will certainly play a role in our concept. We are already working with mask requirements in local public transport,” he told the newspapers of the Funke media group. He remained clear evidence of the effectiveness of masks, as well as the Corona Expert Council in his report, however guilty.
One looks even stranger Statement by Buschmann’s party colleague Christian Dürr (FDP faction leader): “We are concerned – and the doctors say so too – that we will have a severe influenza season, i.e. flu season. That may be even more relevant this winter than the Corona situation, which fortunately is under control.” so this on Monday compared to Bild TV.
Against what are the masks supposed to work, against corona or influenza? The politicians don’t really seem to know that either. The main thing is that the mania for measures goes into the next round – what other restrictions will be decided can be eagerly awaited. The impression is given that the rulers have simply taken a liking to bans and restrictions on the population and want to maintain them for as long as possible. But more and more citizens are beginning to question and criticize. For example, former family minister Kristina Schröder reacted on Twitter as follows: “The continuation of the measures – and it’s nothing else if you accept influenza as a reason – was once a conspiracy theory.”
Some justification for appropriate measures will certainly always be found – if no suitable virus is available at the moment, one could invoke climate change. If the citizens do not defend themselves against the encroachments of the government, restrictions will become part of their everyday life in the future – freedom and personal responsibility would be a thing of the past.
