The Bundesliga teams prevailed in the first round of the ÖFB Cup this Sunday. Bundesliga relegated Admira was challenged at SVg Purgstall. The Lower Austrians were able to prevail 4:2. Admira already led 2-0 at half-time thanks to an own goal by Scharner (15′) and a goal by Ristanic (26′). In the second half of the game, the guests followed up with a brace from Stevanovic (59′, 91′). The home side scored two goals. In the end, however, this did not change the rise of the southern townspeople.
The WAC didn’t show any weakness either and won 4:1 at SV Kuchl. The Dutt-Elf initially benefited from an own goal in the person of Buchegger (11th). Baribo made it 2-0 three minutes later. However, SV Kuchl approached before the break whistle. In the 33rd minute, Lürzer reduced it to 1:2. In the second half, however, the wolves from Carinthia fixed the 4:1 final score. Baribo celebrated a brace after a converted penalty in the 49th minute. Kerschbaumer (66th) finally provided the final point.
Sturm, Austria, LASK and SCR Altach were already in action on Saturday. The Bundesliga teams did not show any weaknesses in the first round of the Austrian football cup. Sturm Graz, Austria Wien and LASK are in the next round after goal festivals. SCRA Altach also celebrated success when Miroslav Klose made his coaching debut. Runner-up Sturm had no trouble at SC Röthis in Vorarlberg and won 6-0 (4-0). Austria didn’t let anything go wrong at FC Wels, for the violets there was a 7-0 (3-0) win against the fourth division team. LASK was also in goal mood at 9: 1 (3: 1) in Schwaz.
