“A big step has just been taken for more safety and for better framework conditions in active mobility,” says the minister happily on her Instagram profile. What she means by that is that cyclists are now allowed to pedal hard even at red traffic lights – eXXpress reported. And that’s how it works: At crossroads with an arrow pointing to the right on the additional sign, you can turn right with your bike – even if the traffic light is red. At so-called T-junctions without crossing traffic, you can continue cycling in a straight line if an arrow points straight ahead.
But something will also change for parents of school children: Thanks to Gewessler’s amendment, stopping bans can be placed in the immediate vicinity of schools. The Green Minister is thus declaring war on “parent taxis”. Half an hour before the start of the lesson, for example, you are no longer allowed to drive into the street. This should of course relieve the climate.
