During the storming of the Capitol in Washington, DC on January 6, 2021, hundreds of supporters of the still incumbent US President Donald Trump pushed into it. Her goal was to prevent confirmation of what she felt was “stolen election” from Joe Biden. The uprising sparked riots throughout the area. As a direct result of the events, five people lost their lives – five others later died by suicide. Scores of people were injured, including 140 police officers. To this day, the exact actors behind the storming of the Capitol have not been clarified. While the official opinion is that right-wing supporters of Donald Trump wanted to use brutal force to undermine democratic processes, there are other versions. There are now several testimonies that report that the mob was infiltrated by left-wing extremists, who fueled the atmosphere.
