The Austrian storage facilities are currently said to be 40.9 percent full. This corresponds to a capacity of 39 terawatt hours. The total storage capacity is 95.5 terawatt hours, which is just over the country’s annual consumption (about 90 TWh).
Due to the tense situation, the government announced that they were in constant contact with the responsible authority E-Control, the market area manager AGGM and OMV as the largest domestic gas trader. Due to the measures taken, up to 6.6 billion euros are available for the purchase of a strategic gas reserve in the order of 20 terawatt hours (at least 7.4 terawatt hours of which are not from Russia).
