The green turn leads Germany to ruin. Under the pretext of the Ukraine war, energy security is being endangered to such an extent that the inscription “Dem deutsche Volke” (Dem German people) on the Reichstag building is finally being given the lie. Citizens have to spoon up the soup – for example with room temperatures of just 16 to 18 degrees in the apartment. Robert Habeck would like to make “energy-saving measures” compulsory by law so that they have no means of objecting.
A comment by Vanessa Renner
European eco-fascism is sharply criticized and considered dangerous even by climate researchers who still have the courage to speak plain language (also read: ‘Climate researchers recommend more education for panicked eco-activists: there is no climate crisis’). Of course, that doesn’t bother the Green Economics Minister Robert Habeck. He now speaks of a “serious situation” in terms of security of supply: After the throttling of Russian gas supplies to Germany, it could – who would have thought it – be very dark and cold in the country. Holding on to sanctions against Russia, which primarily shoot oneself in the foot, has long since been reduced to absurdity by Habeck’s prostration to the Qatari dictators: The Greens have never been concerned with the “greater good”. And certainly not about German citizens.
They should dutifully freeze “for Ukraine”: in other words, accept the abolition of energy security without criticism and sheepishly and convince themselves that they are one of the most corrupt countries in the world help. They don’t, because the European withdrawal from Russian energy does very little harm to Putin. He simply sells oil and gas to other countries – and is happy that the EU (and Germany in particular) is weakening itself through the sanctions. So in the end you freeze for Putin.
16 to 18 degrees in the apartment is perfectly adequate?
The German Association of Towns and Municipalities seems to like that. Instead of recommending a course correction to the government, DStGB chief executive Gerd Landsberg recently told the Rheinische Post that concrete “savings plans” have to be developed. This could reduce the temperature in administration buildings and swimming pools – but also in households. With regard to the latter point Landsberg was bothered by legal requirements:
“For example, landlords are obliged to ensure a temperature of 20 to 24 degrees. That has to be changed. Even an apartment with 18 or 19 degrees can still be lived in well and everyone should be able to bear this comparatively small sacrifice.”
Fortunately, Mr. Landsberg has no way of deciding what sacrifices are to be borne by society: Every citizen decides that for himself. Of course, the DStGB chief executive is also free to stay in his house at only 14 degrees or less for Putin in the coming winter in order to show special commitment. The same can be recommended to the President of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller, who also recommended lowering the heating requirements endorsed, or the President of the Federal Association of German Housing and Real Estate Companies (GdW), Axel Gedaschko, who considers temperatures of 18 degrees during the day and 16 degrees at night to be perfectly adequate. We wish a Lot of fun!
As expected, these characters promptly received criticism – even from the SPD: Federal Building Minister Klara Geywitz judged legally prescribed freezing as nonsensical and pointed out the associated health risk. After all, it is not for nothing that the 20 degree minimum is specified in case law. In fact, in Germany the fear of any kind of respiratory infection is so great that in the future it could be mandatory to wear a mask for more than half the year – but at the same time people want to be cold so that they get sick, it seems. It’s no wonder that people like to laugh so heartily about the Germans.
“Freeze for Putin” soon law?
The green ban party still seems to have tasted blood: Economics Minister Robert Habeck announced on Thursday in the ARD daily topicsthat measures to save energy would be required by law and enforced if necessary. In view of the criticism, he apparently did not yet dare to announce a reduction in the prescribed minimum temperature in apartments (this has not yet been “intensively” dealt with) – but stated that all laws in this regard would be “examined”. In truth, the task of politics is to avert damage from the people instead of deliberately causing it, as is currently happening.
