Great relief in Austrian ice hockey! Relegation is done. After the exclusion of Russia and Belarus at the 2022 World Cup in Finland, Austria was given the chance to fight for relegation at the A World Cup. All in all, they managed to score a sensational win against the Czech Republic and a completely surprising point against the USA. In the decisive game against Great Britain, the ÖEHV selection won in the first third despite initial difficulties and thus secured relegation.
In a talk with Dominik Hana, Roger Bader talks about the World Cup, the importance of staying up in the league for domestic ice hockey and the upcoming projects. In August, the U20 World Cup in Canada is already on the agenda, which had to be canceled in January due to Corona.
But that will not be the only topic of the show for a long time. At the end of June, the military parachuting world championship will take place in Burgenland. Athletes from 37 nations will take part in the competitions. They compete in figure, formation and target jumping. In the latter case, the participants try to Skydive to land as close as possible to a two centimeter target point. Spectators can follow the competitions and demonstrations from June 23 with free admission. On June 24th, the 19th Infantry Battalion will be showcasing their skills. Military Commander Gernot Gasser will be speaking about the World Cup and the chances for Austria.
There is also good news for sports. Austrian sport has been at a standstill for years – at least as far as the budget is concerned. There hasn’t been an increase since 2013. That’s over now. The sports budget is adjusted due to inflation and the resulting price increases. On the one hand, Dominik Hana spoke to Sport Austria President Hans Niessl. But the newly crowned cheerleading world champion Magdalena Bramböck and the wakeboarder Melanie Fraunschiel also have their say.
