Kyrgyzstan Health Minister Alimkadyr Beishenaliev is on June 2nd been arrested – because he ordered millions of doses of vaccine against Covid-19 that were not needed at all. This waste of money is not approved in the Central Asian country.
Beishenaliev ordered 2.5 million doses of Covid vaccines – despite Kyrgyzstan receiving sufficient free vaccines from China, Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Kyrgyzstan has only 6.6 million inhabitants, and the people’s willingness to vaccinate is low. 240,000 vaccine doses have now expired. In total, the minister threw the equivalent of around 19 million US dollars out of the window. This money was deposited in offshore accounts.
The Kyrgyz Prosecutor General’s Office has opened seven criminal cases against Beishenaliev – one for corruption, two for bribery and four for abuse of office and signing intentionally unprofitable contracts. The Minister of Health is generally considered very controversial.
A corresponding contribution from the “Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project” on the arrest of Beishenaliev is currently being sent to the German Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach via Twitter. The Austrian Health Minister Johannes Rauch is also considered:
Their constant reordering of controversial Covid vaccines, although the willingness of the population to vaccinate is more than exhausted, is anything but well received by the citizens.
