Steeped in history – in the truest sense of the word – is Hallstatt in the eastern part of the Salzkammergut. Hallstatt was already inhabited 7000 years ago, and it experienced its heyday in 800 BC. At that time, Rome hadn’t even been founded, it didn’t happen until 753 BC. Finally, in the year 400 BC, when Hallstatt was already an impressive city with a highly developed culture, Rome had a population of just 25,000 and was a small town.
The Natural History Museum is now coming up with exciting research results – as you can see for yourself in the history magazine. You can marvel at beautiful photos of the products of the textile industry, which was already very colorful and imaginative at the time. You can also find out what the mine was like back then.
eXXpress editor-in-chief Richard Schmitt interviewed two top experts, namely Dr. Karina Grömer, head of the Prehistory department at the NHM, and Dr. Hans Reschreiter, head of research at the Hallstatt excavation.
What the two have to say – and why you shouldn’t miss the current exhibition in the Natural History Museum – you can see that and more at 8.15 p.m. in our “History Special” – only here on eXXpressTV, on eXXpress.at and on Magenta cable channel 170!
