The violent mudslinging in the very public and very dirty court battle between Hollywood star Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard is nearing the home stretch – and the jury’s decision could depend particularly on a statement made by top model Kate Moss on Wednesday has met. Kate Moss and Johnny Depp were THE dream couple of the dazzling acting and fashion world in the 1990s – for four years, from 1994 to 1997, the two very young stars were together. Now, almost 30 years later, their relationship is long gone – but Moss’ testimony today, Wednesday, was highly anticipated and could become one of the most important testimonies of the entire trial. Kate Moss, as another ex-partner, has confirmed under oath that the “Jack Sparrow” actor has never behaved violently towards her.
“Johnny never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down the stairs,” Moss, who joined in via video feed from the UK, testified Wednesday in court at the County Circuit Courthouse in Fairfax, Virginia.
Moss had previously only spoken well of Depp, even though she said she cried for “years” after the relationship with the Hollywood star ended. But those tears were tears of loss, not tears of trauma – the supermodel made that clear once and for all in her two-minute hearing on Wednesday. In doing so, she also confirms the picture that the actor’s other ex-partners drew: Both Depp’s long-time ex-partner Vanessa Paradis, with whom he also has his two children, and Winona Ryder had testified that Depp had always been a loving partner, the violence couldn’t be further.
The only reason Moss was even subpoenaed by Johnny Depp’s team was Amber Heard’s own testimony: The “Aquaman” actress recalled an incident from 2015. Depp had a fight with Heard’s sister Whitney, the actress said . She didn’t hesitate to intervene. “Whitney had his back to the stairs and Johnny was hitting her,” she testified. “I’m not hesitating, I’m not waiting – I immediately think of Kate Moss and the stairs in my mind. And I punched him,” she recalled, echoing a rumor that Depp pushed Moss down a hotel staircase in the ’90s. By bringing up Kate Moss’s name, Amber Heard allowed Depp’s team to call the model as a rebuttal witness.
