Vaccine orders only make sense if the vaccines are more effective than the previous ones: Lauterbach’s vaccination shopping frenzy, which costs Germany a further 830 million euros, comes from the German Federal Medical Association not good at.
Its President Klaus Reinhardt stated to the FAZ that only vaccines adapted to new variants could make sense – but nobody knew what to expect. In addition, there are contradictory study results for four vaccinations, which means that the point of further vaccinations must be questioned in general. “You have to take a close look at that and only then decide whether a vaccine procurement of the magnitude mentioned is necessary.”
However, Karl Lauterbach did not want to wait: the federal government has already ordered another vaccine for a mere 830 million euros. Reinhardt criticized a general “snaking course” of the traffic light coalition, which leads to confusion. In particular, he found the communication from Health Minister Karl Lauterbach to be “quite strange”. “I have the impression that the minister sometimes makes very lonely decisions,” complained the President of the Medical Association, referring to Lauterbach’s withdrawal of the decision to suspend the quarantine obligation in a television program.
