The season is for Kris Foucault (31). So after a long and tiring season, he was on vacation in the Bahamas. He probably never would have thought that he would become a lifesaver. It was 12 noon. The sun was shining in the island paradise. But the waves were high and turbulent. Foucault was having lunch with his family by the pool. But suddenly a girl (6) was pulled out to sea by a current. The child was in mortal danger. But the rescuers were also in mortal danger, as was the ice hockey professional.
When he heard the cries for help on the beach, the Iserlohn professional dropped everything and immediately sprinted to the beach. His father-in-law had previously explained to him that it was a little girl. Foucault then jumped into the water. In an article on nhl.com, he commented on the incident: “As I came through the wave, I saw her lifeless body floating on the surface of the water about 50 feet (15 meters, note) in front of me. I actually thought I was recovering a body.”
But he pulled the girl back to the beach. A lifeguard was already waiting there. A heart-lung massage was started immediately. In fact, the girl was able to be revived. The ice hockey player didn’t even realize what happened. When he got to shore, he was out of breath, so he had to lie down and rest. Foucault was recovering from shoulder surgery in the Bahamas. He underwent this two months ago after an injury. That’s why the ice hockey player hasn’t been swimming since the beginning of May, i.e. since arriving. But when it came down to it, he finally jumped into the sea.
The Canadian has been playing for the Iserlohn Roosters in the DEL since 2021. But Kris Foucault also has a past in Austria. He played for the Vienna Capitals in the 2014/15 season.
