The ÖVP Vienna now officially has a new state leader: Five months after the departure of his predecessor, Karl Mahrer was elected the 19th state party chairman of the Vienna People’s Party on Friday with 94.21 percent. He succeeds Gernot Blümel, who left all political offices in December of the previous year.
The new head of the Turkish city party was a police officer and member of the National Council. The 67-year-old has already moved from parliament to city hall and is now not the executive city councilor of the People’s Party. He took over the management of the party after the Blümel departure.
The 37th regular state party conference took place in the Steffl Arena. Around 500 delegates and 1,000 guests were present – eXXpressTV reported live.
