In the Steffl Arena in the 22nd district, the Viennese ÖVP is meeting for the 37th time today. Under the motto “Power.Ahead. For Vienna”, the line of the People’s Party will be discussed, among other things, on the topics of quality of life, security, housing and education. There is also an election to be contested: The previous ÖVP Vienna boss Karl Mahrer is standing for re-election as state party chairman – without opposing candidates. 483 delegates from the districts of Vienna will vote in the election. The bar is set high: Just last week, Chancellor Nehammer received 100% approval as federal party chairman of the ÖVP.
