In the fifth district of Vienna there was an attempted robbery on Tuesday night. A 20-year-old Syrian national allegedly grabbed a softgun from the handbag of a 27-year-old woman and threatened her with it.
However, the Syrian fled shortly afterwards. Two witnesses are said to have followed the man and overpowered him. The Viennese police were able to arrest the fleeing suspect shortly afterwards in Josef-Schwarz-Gasse.
However, there is no trace of the weapon. The emergency services could not find them either during the search of the alleged perpetrator or on his escape route. The alleged victim was no longer there either.
A WEGA patrol crew was finally able to discover the alleged victim in the area of the Margaretengurtel underground station. In an initial survey, she confirmed the incidents – but the drunk woman was unable to provide any information about the whereabouts of the softgun.
