SPÖ leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner meets German Chancellor Olaf on Tuesday Scholz in Berlin for a working meeting. The focus of the one-hour talks in the Willy-Brandt-Haus would be developments in Ukraine, the consequences of the war on price developments and energy supply in Europe, as well as economic policy and here in particular the switch to renewable energy, the SPÖ said.
She supported the recent initiative of ScholzRendi-Wagner emphasized that mediation attempts with the Russian President Vladimir Putin should continue and that he should increasingly work for peace through diplomatic channels. “As difficult as the situation is, Europe must leave no stone unturned to seek and find diplomatic solutions. It needs de-escalation in terms of Ukraine and in terms of Europe,” said the SPÖ party and club leader.
The work meeting in the SPD headquarters will also deal with measures against inflation. Germany acted two months ago and reduced taxes on fuel, for example. A pension adjustment of five to six percent as of July 1, 2022 has also been announced, according to Rendi-Wagner. “What is possible in countries like Germany must also be feasible in Austria,” demands the SPÖ chairwoman.
