“You want to lower inflation? Then we should make sure the richest companies pay their fair share,” the US President tweeted. This apparently made the Amazon founder angry. He reacted – also on Twitter – violently! Bezos then accused the President of “misleading”.
“The newly created disinformation board should review this tweet,” he wrote. The latter is an institution of the Department of Homeland Security designed to prevent fake news. He indirectly implied that the US President had spread the same.
We would be happy to discuss raising corporate taxes. He called an “important discussion” how the rate of inflation, which has been high for months, can be curbed. But “to lump the two together is just a distraction.”
It is Bezos’ first confrontation with the President of the United States. His predecessor, Donald Trump, had repeatedly attacked Bezos. The reason seems to be the bad press from the Washington Post, which Bezos owns. A feud between the two is reported.
