“Why does the Russian army leadership leave their dead here with us?”, the Ukrainian officers do not understand that the Kremlin simply ignores the dead camped near Kyiv. They have now shown the refrigerated wagons to the international media: More than 250 dead Russian soldiers are stored in them, frozen – they fell in the first few weeks of the war.
In a video, a forensic scientist holds two military badges up to the camera and says that one of the soldiers killed was a paratrooper. And the Ukrainian officials show the reporters what they found in the soldiers’ pockets: jewelry stolen from Ukrainian civilians, presumably.
This media appointment by the Ukrainian government must also be evaluated neutrally: there is no possibility of verifying Kiev’s statements.
According to the Ukrainian armed forces, more than 25,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since Vladimir Putin (69) ordered the Ukraine invasion on February 24. This is denied by the Kremlin: There are only 1,300 dead.
