The travel industry, which had been calling for entry restrictions to be lifted for weeks, responded with satisfaction. “This meant that a massive competitive disadvantage compared to other European destinations could be eliminated – late but nevertheless,” explained the chairman of the WKÖ specialist association of travel agencies, Gregor Kadanka, on Friday evening. The end of the 3G rule is good news for both incoming tourism and Austrians vacationing abroad.
Until now, 3G was still mandatory when entering the country. Those entering the country had to prove that they were vaccinated, recovered or tested.
