Sezer Öztürk must be behind bars! The ex-Bundesliga professional was sentenced to 14 years and seven months in prison by a court in Istanbul. On September 19 of last year, the former Nuremberg and Leverkusen player shot a man (24) on the street. Before that, there was an argument with the victim’s group because they were blocking a road. Öztürk then fled and went into hiding. The arrest took place at the end of November. He previously tried to cross the border into Georgia in the back seat of a truck.
The public prosecutor’s office originally even demanded 23 years in prison for murder and bodily harm. The ex-footballer emphasized during the process that he was acting in self-defense. The group threatened him and the victim. Most recently, Öztürk worked as a professional for Besiktas Istanbul. Before that he ran for league rivals Fenerbahce Istanbul. In the youth teams he played for Rot-Weiss Essen and Leverkusen.
