Alice Schwarzer is once again a topic of conversation on the Internet: After the German feminist, known for her sharp tone, together with many celebrities, in an open letter to Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, resolutely raised her voice against the much-discussed arms deliveries to Ukraine (also reported by eXXpress), she now added in an interview with the “Welt” – and put the journalist’s composure to the test.
When the presenter of the “Welt” explained the situation in the Ukraine war that led to the letter in the interests of the viewers and thus also introduced her question, the black apparently took too long – “Get to the point,” she cut Journalist who continued to elaborate on her question, repeatedly interspersed. The presenter, however, was undeterred and continued speaking – which meant that both women, trying to gain the upper hand in the conversation, increased their volume until finally a single word could no longer be understood.
This was repeated before the ladies were able to get to the point at hand – the question of Schwarzer’s statement on the letter and her reaction to the severe criticism from Ukraine – above all that of the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, Andriy Melnyk.
More than 10,000 people have now signed the letter to Olaf Scholz online. This states that such supplies would provide the aggressor with a “seeing eye” a motive for criminal action. Melnyk criticized this reasoning on Twitter and said that the signers of the letter had “learned nothing from history”. What’s more, they would “play into Putin’s hand”.
Alice Schwarzer had similarly sharp words to reply to this criticism: So it is not the first time that the Ukrainian ambassador has said “disgusting things”: “That he dares, our thoughtful, very precise, partly very knowledgeable and also Comparing a committed statement with approval of a second holocaust against the Hungarian people is simply outrageous,” Schwarzer fumed, before again condemning this “demagogic approval of an imminent third world war”.
