These figures cannot be independently verified. While Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov himself has acknowledged “significant casualties” by Russian troops in Ukraine, the figures from Kyiv seem to be quite high. If the war lasted half as long as British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss fears, that would mean an estimated 672,000 dead Russian soldiers.
