The eighth six-fold jackpot in lottery history did not bring a six last Sunday – now the second seven-fold jackpot awaits this Wednesday – ten (!) million euros are in the pot!
The first seven-fold jackpot was in November 2018 – at that time a Lower Austrian hit the jackpot. The man from the Waldviertel won 14.9 million euros and thus the highest prize ever in the Austrian lottery.
It is very likely that there will be a six. 12.5 million tips are to be played, with up to 80 percent of all 8.1 million combinations likely to be typed. If there is no six again, this would be the first eight-fold jackpot in history.
However, due to the corona pandemic and the war in Ukraine, the volume of lottery tickets has generally fallen. “The fear of gas and the war are a crisis scenario for people. Money is held back or less is available. That’s why people don’t play to the same extent as before the pandemic,” explains Otmar Schwarzenbohler, deputy federal chairman of tobacconists.
