With the warm spring temperatures, we in Austria can breathe a sigh of relief again – finally many corona measures have been taken, public life is – almost – “back to normal” again. But only almost – because even if we are allowed to move around in restaurants, at school, when shopping and yes, even when partying in the club without a mask, the FFP2 mask requirement not only applies in medical facilities such as hospitals, but also in supermarkets and in public transport as before. This causes widespread frowns – rightly so, as Dr. Marcus Franz explained in today’s edition of eXXpressTV-“Medicus”.
“From a medical point of view, there is absolutely no reason for a mask requirement – just like for a general vaccination requirement,” emphasizes the medical expert once again very clearly. The fact that the Austrians are still being sectated with it, and that the Measures Act was also extended “preventively” and that the government is not only keeping the option open of imposing strict corona measures again at any time, is upsetting. It seems to be assumed that the next big wave will roll out in autumn – and the Minister of Health has already bought vaccine doses for this on a large scale, even though they are demonstrably not currently needed.
In short: Lots of excitement, lots of questions! Why we still have to wear a mask in the supermarket and on public transport while we are allowed to dance in the club without a face mask – and why the Minister of Health is investing millions of euros in new vaccine doses for which there is no demand – these controversial topics and other burning questions are in the Focus of today’s issues of eXXpressTV “Medicus”, the large health magazine with Dr. Marcus Franz and eXXpress Editor-in-Chief Richard Schmitt.
