Russian hackers managed to interrupt the transmission of Ukrainian television. A program was then broadcast on TV screens in Ukraine, the announcer of which announced the “assassination of the President” and called on the Ukrainian soldiers to “lay down their arms”. To the Ukrainians’ relief, this was Russian fake news meant to stir up trouble.
The Ukraine war is – for the first time – also a war of hackers. Russia is blamed for all cyber attacks in recent years – especially in Europe and the USA. Russian hackers and troll armies like to attack the infrastructure of other countries. Some hacking units are assigned to the Russian secret service GRU. Once they even managed to penetrate the German Bundestag and capture data.
Attacks on several websites were registered in the Czech Republic this week. The Russian hacker group Killnet has claimed responsibility for them. The websites of the Czech Railways and several airports were affected. In addition, the pages of the public administration, which operates the Ministry of Interior, were out of order. According to the government, it was able to repel all attacks. The attacks did not have serious consequences.
