The situation in Mariupol is becoming more and more dramatic. According to Russia, the city has fallen since Thursday, but 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers are still in the Azovstal steel works. Now Kiev’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko has spoken in a video statement: “Mariupol is a symbol of the self-sacrificing struggle and the inflexibility of the Ukrainian people,” the ex-boxer began his statement. Postscript: “Mariupol is a stab in the hearts of Ukrainians and the entire civilized world.”
Klitschko also thanks the soldiers “who have been bravely defending Mariupol for the past two months.” Kyiv’s mayor also immediately demands humanitarian corridors to protect civilians and urges the world to put “intense pressure” on Vladimir Putin. “Glory to Ukraine and its heroes,” Klitschko finished his statement.
