A Georgian man convicted of fraud was only recently transferred to the Vienna-Favoriten prison because he was already difficult to control in another prison. It is believed that he is a case of paranoid schizophrenia.
At the end of March he is said to have run headfirst into a container parked in the yard and a wall. Several prison guards managed with difficulty to calm him down with medication and treat him in a hospital before he was brought back to his cell.
Although this is video-covered, terrible scenes took place there afterwards. The officials could not prevent it: in a nocturnal fit of rage, the Georgian tore his own eye out. Now he is back in the hospital and under constant surveillance.
