Flight monitors report that a number of Chinese military transports have flown into Serbia. Before landing, they would have performed maneuvers typical of dropping paratroopers. Of course, there is no confirmation for this claim apart from the flight movements themselves. Nevertheless, the news is extremely worrying, because a further escalation of the Ukraine crisis could lead to World War III.
The news is extremely worrying and one can only hope that it is a misinterpretation of flight movements. In principle, anyone who can use Internet search engines and flight radar sites can participate in investigations. Because every aircraft has – at least outside of combat missions – an active transponder with which its position, speed, direction and destination are communicated.
There are numerous people around the world who observe these flight movements and sometimes also log them. Such information reached the US HAL Turner Radio Show during April 9, published the following information:
A total of six Chinese Armed Forces troop carriers have been flying to Serbia since Friday night (US EST). It’s about Y-20 machines have acted, strategic transport aircraft of the People’s Liberation Army, which had the following flight numbers:
Each of these transport machines can carry a payload of 66 tons. Each machine should be able to transport 300 soldiers or 110 parachutists.
The first four of these machines landed at Belgrade Airport.
Two other machines are said to have flown zigzag maneuvers north of Belgrade, which are said to be typical for dropping paratroopers. The US side does not explain why China should drop paratroopers north of Belgrade. There is speculation that China may have sent troops to protect lithium mines in Serbia – but it itself notes that this is wild speculation. Another suggestion is that the Chinese may have had Russian troops on board in a form of “joint exercise.”
It must be added that it is completely unknown whether the military planes even had soldiers on board – any other load is conceivable.
